    Carnelian, or cornelian as it is also known, is a member of the chalcedony family of gemstones. Iron oxide impurities are responsible for carnelian’s deep rouge array of colour. Carnelian acts as an umbrella term for related gemstones with varying red shades, from darker jasper to lighter sardonyx. Ancient folklore suggests cornelian was thought to heal physical wounds and impede bleeding. Carnelian can be cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft brush to preserve its beauty and lustre.

    About This Item

    Inspired by ancient Egypt's most iconic ruler, this stunning 9ct gold Eye of Ra necklace with a dyed red carnelian charm exudes female power. The Eye of Ra symbol that decorates these earrings appeared in many Egyptian hieroglyphics and art as the symbol for the strong feminine parallel to the power of the sun god Ra. This necklace is 15cm in length with an added 5cm extender.
